Well, hello again. My name is Emily and I am a nurse. Well, sort of. I have a nursing degree! What a strange in between place, to have the education to practice professionally, but not having the proper license to do so legally. It will all happen soon.
I got a volunteer position at Memorial Sloan-Kettering. I am really excited about it and I can't wait to get my feet wet. I won't be able to do even 10% of what I'll do as a licensed nurse, but it will still be awesome observing and helping the nursing staff.
So, I started this blog to document my time in nursing school and my transition to the East coast. Does that mean it's finished? The blog is completed, like my degree? No, I don't think so. Though my posts are far and few between it's nice to have a place to check into occasionally if only for me to read in 5 years. Life is pretty awesome right now. Today is "back to reality" and I'm feeling good. I can't say I've felt great over the past month. An incredible amount of anxiety has made me lose quite a bit of weight and insomnia has left me looking older. Finding a new normal, adjusting to change, is something I pride myself on being able to handle and I will! I'm already feeling better just sitting here scheduling my month(s) and catching up on real life.
My apartment is adorable and feeling much more cozy and home-y. Ryan is so wonderful it's almost unreal. This city is proving to be more than I could have asked for and I'm feeling comfortable and accepted. I am an adult (again) and I am stoked!
